Year 1 - Shophouse

Design Project: Shophouse

The main difficulties that i faced was
1. the lighting as
shop houses has limited windows.
2. the space

To solve the lighting problem, i decided to cut holes in the walls of the gallery to allow adequate light not only that, you can see through the holes to the other sides of the wall and able to hear also. For his studio I have decided to introduce a skylight also to make sure the room is bright enough.

The shophouse is divided into 2 categories.
1. public space
2. private space
Public space would be the first storey, adding on the
studio located at the second floor which is part private. The studio has chequered glass walls to allow David to look down into his gallery while doing work because he once said that he get inspired by everything human do. From walking to laughing and every other thing. The kitchen will be located at the rear court because it is more suitable to be a part public space as since the shop house has limited space it will be better if he can make good use of the rear court. I had thoughts of having a conference room at first and put the kitchen on the second floor but yet i didn't like the idea of having a conference room at home as it doesn't feel like home anymore, feels more like an office. So the thought of combining the kitchen and using it as a meeting place with his other team mates came in mind.

Private space would be the other part of the second storey which includes a bedroom, W.C and a living room.
