Year 1 - Tessellation

Design Project: Tessellation

The given task was to enlarge a part of the previous Ontography we did and transfer on 3 A1 papers.
We were to fulfill 3 criteria:
1. Patterns
2. Tones (Black to white)
3. Colors

(Previous Ontography drawing)

(Criteria 1: Pattern)
Different thickness of markers were used to come out with the effects of dense and less dense.

(Criteria 2: Tones)
Different tones of grey and black were used.

(Criteria 3: Colors)

I was really inspired after reading Johnannes Itten's Color Contrast and learn the right way of how to choose a color range and what kind of colors can go together. He was one of the first person who identify strategies for successful colour combinations. And through his research he devised seven methodologies for coordinating colors utilizing the hue's contrasting properties. These contrasts add other variations with respect to the intensity of the respective hues; i.e. contrasts may be obtained due to light, moderate, or dark value.
1. The contrast of saturation
2. The contrast of light and dark
3. The contrast of extension
4. The contrast of complements ( i chose this )
5. Simultaneous contrast
6. The contrast of hue
7. The contrast of warm and cool
